As DubFiler is owned and run by a musician (That’s me, Secret Agent Gel), it’s important that our contact with you is on the side of the musician and your rights. There were a few things that we’re brought to my attention, so we’ve made updates. Have a look and get in touch if you have any questions or concerns:

We’ve updated our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
Friday, May 29th, 2009We love blentwell.com
Thursday, May 28th, 2009More than boring ‘ol site updates and news on the DubFiler blog, I want to promote sites, artists and tunes that we love. There’re so many people out there doing amazing things on the web to promote good music. I hope to contribute. Subscribe to the blog or check back regularly for posts on great sites, upcoming artists, free tunes, discounts for other sites and who knows what else.
When I think DJ web sites, the first site that usually comes to mind is Blentwell.com (@mrblentwell), the peoples dj mixset link collective. DJ’s post links to their mixes online, add a description and a few genres, and a lot of people find out about it. It’s a site that I heard about maybe as early as 2000, around when it was started, and have been taking advantage of it since, both to promote my mixes and to find links to other great mixes.
More recently, they’ve been doing a Blentcast podcast which offers an amazing mix of music (appropriately) from a wild variety of DJ’s. Well worth checking out.
Blentwell is free, it’s got a great variety of genres, and I find it great for finding new sounds. It’s easy for any of us to get stuck in our own little routines. When was the last time you listened to some Breakcore or Soulful House? Find something new on Blentwell.com!

Down time!
Thursday, May 21st, 2009We’re so sorry about all the down time. We noticed a few days ago that our server was unstable and started working on it. After trying a few things it didn’t seem any better so we had to take it down today. It appears to be stabilizing so we’re sloooowly putting the site back up overnight and we’ll keep you posted. Thank you very much for all your patience. You’ve been great. Those of you who have paying accounts will get some extra time, we promise.
Name a link
Wednesday, May 20th, 2009One of the most important features on DubFiler is the ability to track a link – see how many people have viewed it, downloaded your file, etc. But Links themselves were sort of anonymous. “Which one did I send to Dave?” that sort of thing. This morning I added the ability to name a link. So now you can call a link “Riddim 6 to Dave” and it’s easier to keep tabs on.
I also fixed a few visual bugs, but that’s just frosting.
New uploader
Tuesday, May 19th, 2009I know you’re saying, “Big whoop” but the new uploader is faster, more reliable and let’s you know sooner if there’s an error. It also let’s us know if there’s an error, so we can help you out. It’s a good thing!
Lots of updates today
Thursday, May 7th, 2009At 3AM this morning, we called it and pushed the new changes to the site. It’s been a long couple of months adding things like more space, emailing from a file page, folders, better player behavior, a new homepage, this blog… And we’re thrilled. I feel great (if a little tired) and look forward to the next list of features we’ll be adding. I’ll tell you all about them soon enough.
Accounts have twice the space
Wednesday, May 6th, 2009One of the upgrades we will be announcing this week is that the disk space you get with an account will be doubling. So now for $5 you will get 1Gb of space. That’s room for about sixty-six 320 MP3s. I’m really thrilled because it makes our account a lot more usable – you can fit a few albums plus your latest tracks.
The new DubFiler blog
Monday, May 4th, 2009I’ve set up this blog to make announcements and let you know what’s going on with DubFiler. Add it to your RSS reader or check back. We’ll post news and information relevant to sharing your music, how we’re improving DubFiler and occasionally feature artists we like.
