Woohoo! Blip Festival 2009

Woohoo! Blip Festival 2009

DubFiler is a proud sponsor of the Blip Festival here in Brooklyn this year. If yre not familiar, Blip Festival is the biggest annual gathering of the world-wide chip tune scene. You thought Gameboys were dead? Not a chance. They’re being used to make some of the most innovative music.

Check out their Kickstarter campaign which is going strong, and ends in just a few days. Support a good cause!

And then come out to the festival! They just announced their line-up and it looks amazing.

Send me your tune!

A sample DubFiler drop box badge.

Today we announce Dropboxes for your web site. If you’re a DJ or a label, people are sending you their tunes to check out. Let them upload their tracks to your DubFiler account, instead. We’ll send you an email when you get a file, and you can audition all your tracks in one place.

There are lots of other updates under way. Stay tuned!

Landing pages are here.

Sample EP landing page

Sample EP landing page

DubFiler has had lots of little changes this weekend but I think they make a big difference. The biggest has been to ‘folders’ which are now called ‘pages’. Once you’ve uploaded a bunch of tunes, samples or ideas, you can create a landing page for them. Add  an image or album cover and include a description and some links to the press release or your mySpace page for more listening.

Activaire - music stylists

Activaire - music stylists

I’ve been friends with Lara and Adesh for years, first as DJ’s but also as designers and taste makers. They really are people with impeccable taste, and they’ve translated that into a business called Activaire. They design the sound for stores, people and events, most recently Uniqlo in NYC. It’s one of those ideas that sounds outrageous, but it so perfectly fits who they are that it had to succeed. Another great example of how creativity and passion can lead to success.

Check out an Activaire mix from 2008 (free) or the summer mix Activaire did for Uniqlo (by way of Racked) (not free).

As we carefully add features to DubFiler, we came to the “social” section of the to-do list. You  can now share a link by emailing it to people, or you can post it to Twitter, Facebook, StumbleUpon, MySpace. And we’ve integrated a great free MP3 player for you to embed. Just copy the code and paste it into your blog, web pages, FaceBook page, etc. We’ll roll out more colors and options soon! Create a link to a file and share it easily with lots of people.

As DubFiler is owned and run by a musician (That’s me, Secret Agent Gel), it’s important that our contact with you is on the side of the musician and your rights. There were a few things that we’re brought to my attention, so we’ve made updates. Have a look and get in touch if you have any questions or concerns:
